Tip # 1 Remove the lens cap when you shoot – This is the oldest trick in the trade. Make sure you do this with flourish and a practiced sweep. This trick is only effective if you are in front of an audience and has been known to elicit many oohs and aahhs.

Tip # 2 Under no circumstances are you to read your camera manual in front of your clients. This is not a good look at all and must be discouraged at all costs. If you must, rather write all the important points at the back of your hand.

Tip # 3 Do not wrestle with the tripod. See tip # 2, ditto tripod. A mono pod is a preferred tool if the tripod proves to be hard to set up, just be sure to dig it in at least 2 feet into the ground for proper support.

Tip # 4 Refrain from accepting any offers of alcohol. Whatever you do, do not clean you equipment with alcohol, it causes blurring of the lens. Rather drink espresso.

Tip # 5 Blurry shots do not count as bokeh.  Please be sure to focus on your subjects when you shoot. Unless you are shooting in the midst of an earthquake, a maximum of ten blurry shots are the norm.

Tip # 6 Lay on the safari look. The fact that you have an impressive camera dangling from your neck is not enough; feel free to channel the safari guide look. While green is so last season, khaki brown never goes out of fashion, just complete this look with a photographer’s vests.

Tip # 7 Use the zoom lens moderately. While the zooming in and out of the lens, complete with the whirring sound are standard professional photographer demeanour, it is advisable not to over do this as you may hit the unsuspecting priest in the face.

Tip # 8 Please feel free to use the flower girl as foreground in all you pics. This is the most

convincing trick that is sure to give your photos that extra professional finish.

Last but not least, do not sing karaoke even if you are offered the mic. You are a professional and are there to work, leave all the posing for amateurs.

Having imparted all these important professional photography tips, you are now ready to go out into the world and use your flash on your victims (no really). Have fun and in the midst of all the posing, do not forget to shoot.
